I first took office in January of 2020. While I had expected my first year in office to be challenging, I had not expected a once in a generation pandemic. We had to make some tough calls to protect the health of Johnston residents.

Through it all though, Johnston has not only endured but thrived.

From new trails and bridges to new businesses and new faces, Johnston continues to grow.

We also continue to expand city services, hiring and equipping more first responders to serve our citizens.

I am proud of all that we have fought for and accomplished these last few years, but there is still much more work to be done.

  • Due to responsible budgeting and economic growth, we were able to reduce property tax rates while expanding city services.

One of my top priorities, should I be elected to another term, is to expand affordable housing options. It is critical that we keep pace with Johnston's continued population growth.

    Accomplishments-

•Cut Johnston’s property taxes by 7%, the lowest assessed rate in 20 years

    Goals-

•Actively encourage developers towards more sustainable building projects

  • Federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and the bipartisan infrastructure bill has allowed Johnston to make important investments in our infrastructure. Infrastructure is at the core of Johnston's growth and the quality of life of our residents. Over the next 4 years, should I be re-elected, I will propose measures to make the city more walkable. Walkable cities are not only more convenient but lead to lower carbon emissions over time.

    Accomplishments-

•Added new internet service provider, Metronet, to the city’s infrastructure

•Expanded city by acquiring about 1400 acres near the 141 Highway Corridor

    •Updating and repairing sidewalks

    Goals-

    •Make city more walkable

  • Johnston's economy is growing as rapidly as her population. The soon to be opened Ignit Sports Complex is projected to see about 400,000 annual visitors, with over a quarter of them being from out of state. This will provide a new revenue stream for businesses in Johnston and will lead to more job growth.
